In order to encourage discussion on that year's theme I posted a range of possibly contentious seeds-based ideas on the Symposium facebook page. I thought that it may have been useful to extend those postings here for those not subscribed to the Symposium facebook page.

Winslow Homer, A Veteran in a New Field: Painted some time after General Robert E. Lee’s surrender on April 9, 1865, and President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination five days later, Homer’s canvas depicts a former soldier harvesting wheat - a symbol of the Union.
